The Most Frequently Asked Questions
What tools do I need?
The good news is you will only need three basic tools to begin working with wire.
Round nose pliers
Needle nosed pliers
Wire cutters
As you become more proficient at working with wire you may want to increase your range of tools. For instance.
Flat nosed pliers
A chasing hammer
A small steel block
Where can I get my wire from?
Wire is obtained from most craft and hobby stores and come in varying gauges and colours (not usually silver ).
Working with sterling silver may require you to search your local area for a silver smith. Ebay have a supplier of different thicknesses of silver wire.
What can I use to coil my wire to make my own links?
There is something called a coiling gizmo that you can buy which will help you to coil your wire. I also demonstrate another way to do this in one of my free tutorials that you can get in the subscribe link. I have also used knitting needles before I used the mandrels that I have now.
Which tutorials should I start with first?
From the tutorials on my web site I would select the three in two as a starting point. The rose bracelet.
the box chain, the byzantine and the European 4 in 1 are all good tutorials to begin with. The persian weave
is more of an intermediate weave.
The spider tutorial is also an easy one to start with. The hand flower can be a little tricky until a few skills are learned.
